The Best Voice Over Mics and Tech at Bild Expo 2025

Updated: Jul 3

Keeping Up with Voice Over Tech at Bild Expo 2025

In the voice over world, keeping up with technology is no easy thing.

There are new microphones, audio interfaces, headphones, etc. that drop every day and with the exception of a precious few (paging George The Tech) we in the voice over community have no idea which toy (ahem) tool to add to our signal chain.

This is why I love attending the Bild Expo here in New York City.

What is The Bild Expo?

The Bild Expo is produced by B&H, a highly regarded photo/video store here in Manhattan.

Join us at NYC's biggest gathering of video/photo storytellers!
Bild is where you will get inspired by world class speakers, fine tune your talents through hands-on experiences and workshops, and try the latest gear at the industry’s largest brand expo. Bild’s two days and nights will be jam packed with inspiration, camaraderie, and a ton of fun.
Many of us enjoyed the incredible excitement of the first Bild Expo in September 2023; we’re thrilled to bring to you Bild Expo 2025 which will be even bigger and even better.  And just like last time, Bild Expo is absolutely free to attend!

I attended the first Bild Expo in 2023 (you can read that blog entry here) and I was thrilled it returned.

And yes, there was a dude at the Adobe booth blowing bubbles. Don't ask me what that has to do with photography equipment, but it was pretty cool nonetheless.

Why I Attended the Bild Expo

While I'm no technophile (in almost 20 years of home recording I've owned three mics and two of them are in my booth as I write this), I think it's important for all voice actors of every experience level to stay up-to-date on the technology side of the voiceover industry.

My mission was to find new microphones, headphones, and audio interfaces of varying price points to add to my newly revamped Gear Recommendation page so y'all have even more options when shopping for home recording tech.

Below are my latest recommendations. Each entry has an affiliate link to Amazon so while it doesn't cost you any more money, I might get a teensy weensy commission. Here we go...!

The Lewitt Booth: A Hub for Innovation

I spent the majority of my time at the Lewitt booth since they had so many cool options.

Audio setup with microphones, headphones, and two laptops displaying software on a table with "LEWITT" logo. Black curtain backdrop.

I've got two Lewitt microphones and two audio interfaces to recommend. You can click on the pics or the link below the pics to check them out...

Audio Interfaces

Audio device labeled "LEWITT Connect 2" on a dark surface. Buttons for mic, mute, and volume control with glowing indicators.
The Lewitt Connect 2 Audio Interface Look at this little guy! I am seriously considering adding it to my travel rig.

I checked out the Sennheiser and Rode booths but I didn't see anything new that's worth sharing.

I did go to the "Audio Experience" room where B&H had set up of maybe 50 mics. They were all hooked up so you could try any of them out. It's very similar to the setup they have at their store. If you haven't been there and tried it out, it's a ton of fun!

Headphones

The Audio-Technica booth had all the classic headphones we've come to know & love but I really liked the pair below...

FYI this is an open-back headphone. That means you shouldn't use them in the booth since the sound may bleed into your recording. You should use these only when you're editing audio. I tried them on and they are soft, so soft.

Find the Right Gear for Your Voice Over Booth

So there you have it! If you're looking for more gear, go to my Gear Recommendation page where there are all kinds of mics, audio interfaces, hardware & software, and books to choose from.

Thanks for reading! Stay cool, stay safe, and happy voicing.
