I love rainy days.

You know, those days when no voiceover projects come in?

Don’t get me wrong, I love being busy too. More often than not, of course. I’m just saying is that it’s nice to have a day where no projects come in and I have to actively figure out which productive things I’m going to do.

I think this is where many aspiring (and possibly veteran) voice talents go off the rails. What do you do when you have no voiceovers to do?

TIP OF THE WEEK

All I need to do is look at my Monthly Action Plan. To ensure I’m focusing on all areas of my career on a regular basis, my Action Plan has tasks both big and small. Some are big-picture projects and some are minor administrative jobs, but all are critical to keeping my business in shape and moving forward. Here are a few examples:

Cash Flow: did I send invoices for all the gigs I’ve booked so far?

Technique: am I caught up on reading the blogs I’m subscribed to?

Tools: have I done my monthly computer maintenance (Disk Cleanup, Defragmenter, etc.)?

Marketing: did I seek new or interact with existing connections on LinkedIn, Twitter, or other social media platforms?

Health: did I start to write next month’s goals?

Make a list of non-urgent but important monthly “rainy day” tasks so you will always keep your career moving forward!

HAPPY HAPPYS!

Happy Comic Book Day and Punctuation Day! Can you name all 14 punctuation marks? The cast of West Wing can…
